Digital Education

The Institute of Public and Administrative Law designs and develops innovative, digital learning platforms for members of the University of Cologne. The police and public order law section of the "Jura mit System" project is now available for use as the first solution published.

Digital teaching and learning has become an integral part of the University of Cologne. It opens up opportunities for teachers and students that are not available in purely classroom-based formats. At the Faculty of Law, too, students increasingly want to be able to access learning and teaching content in a digital, modern way. The tool "Jura mit System" (Law with System), which is based on the "ILIAS" platform, serves this goal.

According to a defined learning schedule, informative and entertaining explanatory videos – produced by qualified academic staff – are offered for all relevant learning units of the relevant sub-area within public law. At the end of each learning unit, there are questionnaires that allow students to check their own learning success easily and in anonymous form. The aim of "Jura mit System" is to enable students to learn flexibly in terms of time and learning location - and thus to improve the study situation and learning experience in general

The already published section on police and regulatory law is expected to be completed in the course of 2022 with units on municipal law and building law; furthermore, state organization law will be prepared during this time. Content on general administrative law and fundamental rights will follow later.
